Chiltern Firehouse

Opened in 2014 by hotelier André Balazs, Chiltern Firehouse quickly became one of the most iconic hotels in the world. Working on the opening team as the owner’s representative, Luhtala oversaw the execution and installation of the 26-room hotel, lounge, and restaurant as the 1880s Victorian firehouse was reimagined by French architecture firm Studio KO.

“The hotel is part classic French brasserie, part industrial—supporting pillars, a fireman's pole and low-hanging lights—and part chintzy in-joke with pot plants, ornaments, thick hallway carpets and marble tables.”
