Calpine Residence

After losing their home and treasured art collection to the Woolsey Fire in 2018, Nora and Jack Capers embarked on a journey of healing and rebuilding. Their original collection—featuring iconic works by Sally Mann, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Richard Misrach—had been a deeply personal reflection of their shared life.

Collaborating closely with Studio Luhtala and Lucie Project, the Capers built a re-envisioned home that honors nature, resilience, and timeless design. With support from Jackson Fine Art and artists including Holly Andres and Mona Kuhn, they began restoring their collection while curating a new one that mirrors their present state of life.

The Calpine Residence features thoughtful design elements from Pierre Yovanovitch, Rose Uniacke, BDDW, and more—each chosen to create a sanctuary rooted in meaning, beauty and enduring connection.
